alliance is my contribution to the banner art campaign organised by #WOD Weltoffenes Dresden in which 13 cultural institutions and initiatives in Dresden came together from 4 to 16 May 2026 to make a visible statement at six central locations across the city: the campaign serves as a reminder of democratic and humanitarian values and urges us to uphold them.
#WOD Weltoffenes Dresden is an alliance of cultural institutions in Dresden. They champion democracy and an open, inclusive society.
The English and French term ‘alliance’ describes a mutual, beneficial relationship between individuals, groups or nations.
An alliance is based on trust, shared interests and the pursuit of positive development through cooperation.
What alliances does this elaborately supported branch point to, both in terms of global developments and in terms of family and neighbourhood?
This fragile situation reveals a dilemma: often, people need, value and protect precisely what they neglect, exploit and destroy, or what slips from their grasp as time passes.

alliance mein Beitrag zur Banner-Kunst-Aktion von #WOD Weltoffenes Dresden, bei der 13 Dresdner Kulturinstitutionen und Initiativen vom 4. – 16. Mai 2026 gemeinsam an sechs zentralen Orten in Dresden ein sichtbares Zeichen setzten: die Aktion erinnert an demokratische und humanitäre Werte und mahnt sie zu bewahren.
#WOD Weltoffenes Dresden ist ein Bündnis von Kulturinstitutionen in Dresden. Sie treten für Demokratie und eine offene, solidarische Gesellschaft ein.
Der englische und französische Begriff „alliance“ beschreibt eine gegenseitige, vorteilhafte Verbindung zwischen Individuen, Gruppen oder Nationen.
Eine Allianz basiert auf Vertrauen, gemeinsamen Interessen und dem Streben nach positiver Entwicklung durch Kooperation.
Auf welche Allianzen verweist der aufwändig gestützte Ast, sowohl im Hinblick auf globale Entwicklungen, als auch auf Familie und Nachbarschaft?
Die fragile Situation offenbart ein Dilemma: oft braucht, wertschätzt und schützt der Mensch, was er vernachlässigt, ausbeutet und zerstört oder was ihm im Vergehen der Zeit entgleitet.
